Saturate
EQUIP a cluster of light. FIRE to throw the cluster, which upon contact with the ground explodes, Hindering nearby players with a powerful movement and weapon slow.
Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.

Thailand's prismatic radiant Waylay transforms into light itself as she darts across the battlefield, striking down her targets through shards of light before flitting back to safety, all in the blink of an eye.
EQUIP a cluster of light. FIRE to throw the cluster, which upon contact with the ground explodes, Hindering nearby players with a powerful movement and weapon slow.
Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.
EQUIP to prepare for a burst of speed. FIRE to dash forward twice. ALT FIRE to dash once. Only your first dash can send you upward.
Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.
INSTANTLY create a beacon of light on the floor. REACTIVATE to speed back to your beacon as a mote of pure light. You are invulnerable as you travel. Refract resets a charge every two kills.
The signature ability — free every round, and on some agents it recharges through play rather than being bought.
EQUIP to focus your prismatic power. FIRE to create an afterimage of yourself that projects a beam of light. After a brief delay, you gain a powerful speed boost and the beam expands, Hindering other players in the area.
Charged by ultimate orbs, kills, deaths and planting or defusing the spike.
Entry fraggers. Their kits are built to take space and win the opening duel, with self-sufficient tools to engage or escape.
Two of Waylay's abilities are bought with credits each round and lost on death. Refract is the signature ability, so it's free every round, and Convergent Paths is the ultimate — it can't be bought at all, it charges through play.
Waylay is a Duelist. Entry fraggers. Their kits are built to take space and win the opening duel, with self-sufficient tools to engage or escape.
Waylay's ultimate is Convergent Paths, bound to X. EQUIP to focus your prismatic power. FIRE to create an afterimage of yourself that projects a beam of light. After a brief delay, you gain a powerful speed boost and the beam expands, Hindering other players in the area.
Refract. INSTANTLY create a beacon of light on the floor. REACTIVATE to speed back to your beacon as a mote of pure light. You are invulnerable as you travel. Refract resets a charge every two kills.
Waylay has 4 abilities in total: Saturate, Lightspeed, Refract, Convergent Paths.
No. Waylay was added after release — only 5 of the current agents shipped with the game at launch.
Waylay has to be unlocked, like every agent beyond the starting few. You do that with Kingdom Credits earned by playing, or with VALORANT Points if you would rather not wait. Unlocking is permanent and no agent is ever sold as a stronger option — the roster is balanced, not tiered by price.
There are 8 in the Duelist role: Waylay, Raze, Phoenix, Iso, Neon, Yoru, Reyna, Jett. Roles are the game's own grouping, not a community one, and they describe the job an agent does for the team rather than how strong they are.
How often professional teams actually pick Waylay, measured across 1,820 tournament games played between 2026-05-22 and 2026-08-20. This is professional VALORANT, not ranked — the two behave differently, and a pick rate at this level says more about map strategy than about what wins games in a solo queue.
| Map | Pick rate | Win rate | Times picked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fracture | 5.7% | 44.6% | 56 |
| Pearl | 3.7% | 49.1% | 53 |
| Split | 3.4% | 53.8% | 91 |
| Sunset | 3.4% | 73.5% | 34 |
| Ascent | 2.7% | 50.7% | 69 |
| Lotus | 1.8% | 50.9% | 57 |
| Haven | 1.5% | 58.3% | 48 |
Pick rate is the share of the ten player slots in a game that this agent filled. Win rate hovers near 50% for almost every agent because professional matches are between evenly matched teams — a figure far from 50% usually means a small sample rather than a strong agent. Maps with too few games to be meaningful are left out entirely rather than shown with a warning.
Two of every agent's abilities are bought with credits at the start of a round and lost when you die. The signature is free on a cooldown, and the ultimate cannot be bought at all — it charges from kills, deaths, spike plants and orbs.
Waylay was added after launch. Only 5 of the current roster shipped with the game, and the agents added since tend to carry more conditional or setup-heavy abilities than the originals.
During development Waylay went by the internal codename Terra, which is the name that still appears in the game files.
There are 29 playable agents in total, 8 of them in the Duelist role.
The other 7 agents who fill the Duelist role. If you like how Waylay plays, these are the closest thing to a lateral move — same job on the team, different tools.
