Can you play VALORANT on Mac?

On an Apple Silicon Mac, no — and no workaround exists. On an older Intel Mac, yes, but only by installing Windows through Boot Camp.

Apple Silicon (M1 and later)

No working method

Boot Camp does not exist on Apple Silicon, and Vanguard blocks virtual machines outright — so Parallels, CrossOver, Whisky and cloud streaming are all dead ends. This is not a performance limitation you can work around; the anti-cheat simply refuses to start.

Intel Macs

Boot Camp works

Installing Windows through Boot Camp gives you a real Windows environment with the kernel access Vanguard requires, so VALORANT runs normally. You are rebooting into Windows rather than running it alongside macOS.

Why Vanguard is the blocker

The VALORANT anti-cheat runs as a kernel-level driver — the deepest layer of the operating system — because that is where the cheats it is designed to catch also operate. Sitting at that level is the entire point of it.

macOS deliberately restricts third-party code from running there. That is a reasonable security decision by Apple, but it means Vanguard cannot do its job on a Mac in any form. A fundamentally different anti-cheat for macOS or a sanctioned path from Apple would be needed, and neither exists today.

It also explains why every workaround fails in the same way. Emulators, virtual machines and cloud hosts all present a virtualised machine, and Vanguard is specifically built to detect and refuse exactly that.

Common questions

Is there a Mac version of VALORANT?

No. There has never been a native macOS client and no plans for one have been announced.

Can I play VALORANT on an M-series MacBook?

No. Apple Silicon Macs cannot run Boot Camp, and Vanguard refuses to start inside virtual machines or compatibility layers like Parallels, CrossOver or Whisky. There is currently no working route on an M1, M2, M3 or later Mac.

Can I play VALORANT on an Intel Mac?

Yes, via Boot Camp. Installing Windows natively gives Vanguard the kernel access it needs, and the game runs as it would on any Windows PC. This only applies to Intel-based Macs, which Apple stopped shipping some years ago.

Will cloud gaming let me play VALORANT on a Mac?

No. Vanguard refuses to run on streamed or virtualised machines, which is exactly what a cloud gaming host is. Services that stream other titles still cannot offer VALORANT for this reason.

Will VALORANT ever come to Mac?

It depends on Apple more than on Riot. Vanguard needs kernel-level access, and macOS deliberately restricts third-party kernel extensions. Until there is a sanctioned way for anti-cheat to operate at that level, a port is unlikely to be worth building.

Console VALORANT is a separate consideration — it exists on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and those players share lobbies with each other.

Is VALORANT crossplay?
