Why this is an estimate
RR gain isn’t a constant. It moves with the distance between your visible rank and your hidden matchmaking rating, so two players with identical win rates can climb at very different speeds.
Any site giving you a single confident number for “games to Diamond” is hiding that. We put the inputs in front of you instead.
The lever that actually matters
Try it: hold everything else steady and move the win rate from 50% to 55%. The number of games needed falls off a cliff, because you’re changing the net RR per game rather than grinding the same net upward.
That’s the whole argument against queueing more when you’re tired. Games played at a lower win rate don’t just fail to help — near break-even, they can cost you ground.

How much RR do you get per win in VALORANT?
Riot doesn't publish a fixed figure. It varies with the gap between your rank and your hidden matchmaking rating, and at lower ranks your individual performance contributes too. Most players see something in the teens to low twenties per win, which is why this calculator lets you set your own rather than pretending to know.
Why does my RR gain change between games?
Because the system is comparing your rank to what it thinks your skill actually is. If your MMR sits above your rank, you gain more and lose less until they converge — which is also why a smurf climbs fast and then slows down.
What win rate do I need to climb?
Anything above the break-even point, which depends on your RR gain versus loss. If you gain 20 and lose 18, you need roughly 47% to move forward at all — but the closer you sit to break-even, the more games it takes and the more variance decides the outcome.
Is there a faster way to rank up?
Not through queueing more. Raising your win rate a few points shortens the climb far more than playing extra games at the same rate — the maths above makes that obvious if you try it.
