VALORANT player count
Nobody outside Riot knows. The last official figure is nearly two years old, and current estimates disagree by almost 20 million players.
Stated by Anna Donlon, VALORANT studio head on 2 October 2024. Riot has published nothing since.
What the trackers estimate
These are third-party estimates, not measurements. We list them side by side rather than picking one, because the disagreement between them is the most informative thing about them.
| Source | Estimate | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Tracker Network | 37.8 million | peak, March 2026 |
| Tracker Network | 29.4 million | April 2026 |
| Independent trackers | 17–21 million | 2026 range |
| ActivePlayer.io | 18.4 million | July 2026 |
Why there’s no live counter
CS2 has a public concurrent-player number because it runs on Steam, and Valve exposes that data. VALORANT runs through Riot’s own client, and Riot keeps its telemetry internal.
So when a site shows you a ticking live count, it isn’t reading a feed — it’s extrapolating from a model. That can still be directionally useful, but it is not the same kind of number as SteamDB’s.
Why we don’t publish one number
We could pick the estimate that looks most authoritative and print it as fact. Most pages ranking for this question do exactly that, which is why they all show different figures with equal confidence.
The genuinely useful answer is the one above: here is what Riot actually said and when, here is the spread of everything else, and here is why they don’t line up.
Common questions
How many people play VALORANT?
The last figure Riot itself published was 35 million monthly players, stated by Anna Donlon, VALORANT studio head on 2 October 2024. Riot has not released an official number since, so every current figure is a third-party estimate — and those range from roughly 18 million to nearly 38 million depending on who is counting.
Why don't the estimates agree?
Because they measure different things and none of them can see Riot's data. Some sample public match histories, some model from their own userbase, and 'active player' can mean anyone who logged in this month or anyone who played a ranked game this week. Those choices move the number by tens of millions.
Is there a live VALORANT player count?
No. VALORANT runs through the Riot client rather than Steam, so there's no public concurrent-player figure the way SteamDB shows one for CS2. Any site displaying a live counter is modelling it, not reading it.
Is VALORANT growing or shrinking?
The honest answer is that the public data isn't good enough to say confidently. The estimates disagree on direction as well as scale, and without an official figure there's no way to settle it — which is worth knowing before trusting a headline either way.
One thing that is directly measurable: where players sit on the competitive ladder.
