US store prices. VP is priced regionally rather than converted from a single figure, so your local rate will differ — but the shape holds everywhere: larger packs include bonus VP, smaller ones do not.
Why the big packs are cheaper per point
The lower tiers give you a flat amount of VP for your money. From the middle of the range upward, bonus VP is added on top of the base amount — 1,500 extra on the 99.99 dollar pack alone.
That bonus is the entire reason the rate improves. If you already know you are buying a premium skin, one larger purchase costs less than the same VP assembled from small ones — and VP does not expire, so there is no penalty for holding it.
Where to buy
Buying in-client is the direct route and always works. Gift cards are the other option: they credit the same VP, they can be bought for someone else, and third-party sellers sometimes price them under the official rate.
One caution worth stating plainly. A gift card from a reputable retailer is fine, but any site offering VP at an implausible discount, or asking for your login to “top up” your account, is not selling you VP. Nobody legitimate needs your password to credit a card.

Do VALORANT Points expire?
No. VP sits on your account indefinitely, so buying a larger pack to get the better rate does not put you on a clock.
Can I refund unused VP?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase and only if you have not spent it. It goes back to your original payment method via a support ticket rather than through order history.
Are VALORANT gift cards the same as buying VP directly?
Functionally yes — a gift card credits VP to your account. The practical differences are that a card can be bought for someone else, and that third-party sellers sometimes discount them below the official price.
