KAY/O

KAY/O is a machine of war built for a single purpose: neutralizing radiants. His power to Suppress enemy abilities dismantles his opponents' capacity to fight back, securing him and his allies the ultimate edge.

Abilities

C

FRAG/ment

EQUIP an explosive fragment. FIRE to throw. ALT FIRE to lob. The fragment sticks to the floor and explodes multiple times, dealing near lethal damage at the center with each explosion.

Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.

Q

FLASH/drive

EQUIP a flash grenade. FIRE to overhand throw. ALT FIRE to lob a weaker version that explodes quickly. The flash grenade explodes after a short fuse, Blinding anyone in line of sight.

Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.

E

ZERO/point

EQUIP a suppression blade. FIRE to throw. The blade sticks to the first surface it hits, winds up, and Suppresses anyone in the radius of the explosion. Enemies can destroy this blade.

The signature ability — free every round, and on some agents it recharges through play rather than being bought.

X

NULL/cmd

INSTANTLY overload with polarized radianite energy that pulses from KAY/O in a massive radius. Enemies hit with pulses are Suppressed for a short duration. While overloaded, KAY/O gains Combat Stim and can be re-stabilized if downed.

Charged by ultimate orbs, kills, deaths and planting or defusing the spike.

What a Initiator does

They clear the way in. Reveals, flashes and displacement let a team enter a site without walking blind into held angles.

How KAY/O's abilities are bought

Two of KAY/O's abilities are bought with credits each round and lost on death. ZERO/point is the signature ability, so it's free every round, and NULL/cmd is the ultimate — it can't be bought at all, it charges through play.

KAY/O FAQ

What role is KAY/O in VALORANT?

KAY/O is a Initiator. They clear the way in. Reveals, flashes and displacement let a team enter a site without walking blind into held angles.

What is KAY/O's ultimate?

KAY/O's ultimate is NULL/cmd, bound to X. INSTANTLY overload with polarized radianite energy that pulses from KAY/O in a massive radius. Enemies hit with pulses are Suppressed for a short duration. While overloaded, KAY/O gains Combat Stim and can be re-stabilized if downed.

What is KAY/O's signature ability?

ZERO/point. EQUIP a suppression blade. FIRE to throw. The blade sticks to the first surface it hits, winds up, and Suppresses anyone in the radius of the explosion. Enemies can destroy this blade.

How many abilities does KAY/O have?

KAY/O has 4 abilities in total: FRAG/ment, FLASH/drive, ZERO/point, NULL/cmd.

Was KAY/O in VALORANT at launch?

No. KAY/O was added after release — only 5 of the current agents shipped with the game at launch.

Is KAY/O free to play?

KAY/O has to be unlocked, like every agent beyond the starting few. You do that with Kingdom Credits earned by playing, or with VALORANT Points if you would rather not wait. Unlocking is permanent and no agent is ever sold as a stronger option — the roster is balanced, not tiered by price.

Which agents are Initiators?

There are 7 in the Initiator role: KAY/O, Gekko, Fade, Breach, Tejo, Skye, Sova. Roles are the game's own grouping, not a community one, and they describe the job an agent does for the team rather than how strong they are.

KAY/O in professional play

How often professional teams actually pick KAY/O, measured across 1,820 tournament games played between 2026-05-22 and 2026-08-20. This is professional VALORANT, not ranked — the two behave differently, and a pick rate at this level says more about map strategy than about what wins games in a solo queue.

Pick rate is the share of the ten player slots in a game that this agent filled. Win rate hovers near 50% for almost every agent because professional matches are between evenly matched teams — a figure far from 50% usually means a small sample rather than a strong agent. Maps with too few games to be meaningful are left out entirely rather than shown with a warning.

What KAY/O's abilities cost

Two of every agent's abilities are bought with credits at the start of a round and lost when you die. The signature is free on a cooldown, and the ultimate cannot be bought at all — it charges from kills, deaths, spike plants and orbs.

Where KAY/O sits in the roster

KAY/O was added after launch. Only 5 of the current roster shipped with the game, and the agents added since tend to carry more conditional or setup-heavy abilities than the originals.

During development KAY/O went by the internal codename Grenadier, which is the name that still appears in the game files.

There are 29 playable agents in total, 7 of them in the Initiator role.

How KAY/O’s abilities interact

Interactions involving KAY/O, from either side — what their abilities do to other agents’ utility, and what other agents can do to theirs.

KAY/O NULL/cmd suppresses Chamber Tour De Force

Suppression stops an agent activating abilities, so a Chamber caught in the radius cannot start his ultimate. It does not cancel one already active — timing decides which of those you get.

KAY/O ZERO/point suppresses Cypher Trapwire

The knife suppresses agents in its radius, and suppression also disables deployed utility belonging to them for the duration — trips in range stop functioning rather than being destroyed.

KAY/O ZERO/point cannot affect Sage Barrier Orb

Suppression stops agents casting; it does not remove what is already placed. A wall standing before the knife lands stays up and has to be shot down.

KAY/O FRAG/ment destroys Cypher Trapwire

The molly's repeated damage pulses break trips caught in its area. Slower than shooting the wire, but it clears without exposing you to the angle the trip is watching.
