Astra

Ghanaian Agent Astra harnesses the energies of the cosmos to reshape battlefields to her whim. With full command of her astral form and a talent for deep strategic foresight, she's always eons ahead of her enemy's next move.

Abilities

C

Gravity Well

Place Stars in Astral Form (Ultimate Key). ACTIVATE a Star to form a Gravity Well. Players in the area are pulled toward the center before it explodes, making all players still trapped inside Vulnerable.

Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.

Q

Nova Pulse

Place Stars in Astral Form (Ultimate Key). ACTIVATE a Star to detonate a Nova Pulse. The Nova Pulse charges briefly then strikes, Concussing all players in its area.

Bought with credits at the start of a round, and lost when you die.

E

Nebula / Dissipate

Place Stars in Astral Form (Ultimate Key). ACTIVATE a Star to transform it into a Nebula (smoke). USE a Star to Dissipate it, returning the Star to be placed in a new location after a delay. Dissipate briefly forms a fake Nebula at the Star's location before returning.

The signature ability — free every round, and on some agents it recharges through play rather than being bought.

X

Astral Form / Cosmic Divide

ACTIVATE to enter Astral Form where you can place Stars with FIRE. Stars can be reactivated later, transforming them into a Nova Pulse, Nebula, or Gravity Well. When Cosmic Divide is charged, use ALT FIRE in Astral Form to begin aiming it, then FIRE to select two locations. An infinite Cosmic Divide connects the two points you select. Cosmic Divide blocks bullets and sound.

Charged by ultimate orbs, kills, deaths and planting or defusing the spike.

Passive

Astral Form

ACTIVATE Ultimate to enter Astral Form and PRIMARY FIRE to place Stars. Target Stars with your Nova Pulse, Nebula, or Gravity Well to use those abilities.

Always active. It costs nothing and can't be bought, lost or charged.

What a Controller does

Controllers cut the map into pieces. Smokes and area denial decide which angles exist at all, letting a team take a site while ignoring half the defenders on it.

Controllers are experts in slicing up dangerous territory to set their team up for success.

How Astra’s kit is bought

Two of Astra’s abilities are bought with credits each round and lost on death. Nebula / Dissipate is the signature ability, so it’s free every round. Astral Form / Cosmic Divide is the ultimate and can’t be bought at all — it charges through play.

Astra also has a passive, Astral Form, which is always active and costs nothing.

Riot builds each agent under an internal codename before the character exists — Astra was developed as “Rift”. The codenames survive in the game files long after release.

Playing Astra

Astra has 4 usable abilities per round. Two are bought with credits and lost on death, which means an eco round genuinely changes what Astra can do — not just what gun you hold.

The habit that separates good controllers from bad ones is spending abilities rather than saving them. They don’t carry over between rounds, so an unused ability at the end of a round is credits you set on fire.
